Here are a few of our favorites:
My assigned Customer Service Manager worked with me to pick out all of the bathroom trims, lighting, and accessories. This was a wonderful experience. Her advice was to browse and choose from a reputable on-line company in order to save some money and time; she was very helpful with tips and experienced opinions. She also advised yet another, money-saving venue to choose and purchase the vanity mirrors. During the entire job, she kept in touch with me to make sure I was satisfied with how things were progressing.
The Project Manager and his lead contractor did a walk-through with me before the job was to begin to ensure that all of us fully understood the details of the work to be done. The one major decision point for me to go with Moss was their strict policy of not committing to starting the job(s) until all the required materials were delivered. Both the Project Manager and his contractors were very professional, competent, hard-working, and trustworthy. They always provided very sound advice and were always willing to allow me to look at their progress and willing to explain exactly what they were doing. They always kept me apprised of their schedule and plans for each next day. I was also very impressed with the fact that they were very conscientious about keeping my home damage-free and as clean as possible during the job.
The job was completed in two weeks, just like they said; and at a very reasonable cost! I’m in love with the quality of Moss’s commitment to customer service and performance.

Greg finished a project that was beyond my ability, and what a great job he did. I replaced all of my wood railing on my deck then got stuck on the stairs. The vinyl system I had chosen was perfect but my old wood deck was not. Not only did he do an excellent job completing the stair rails, but offered advice, then filled in the gaps on the corner pieces which had all of my “advisors” baffled. JOB WELL DONE.

We needed additional living space for our growing family but were unsure of what to expect with a project of this scale and magnitude. Well, Moss surpassed our expectations in every way. Starting with the proposal phase, through communication and meaningful discourse that stem from truly listening to the client, the owner-rep ascertained our needs and intended use for additional space and gave us all the information we needed UP-FRONT to make our start decision. My husband and I were very impressed not only by his expertise and knowledge, but also by his honesty, fair-dealing and willingness to work with us and share cost and other information, where other design-build firms were equivocal or “hiding the ball” on such details. After contract signing, a similarly productive design phase followed, where the architectural details brought real vision to the project. This stage followed our pace, and we were neither rushed to make decisions nor delayed from moving forward.
Once the design plans were finalized, Matt (the project manager) took over, and then miracles started happening. With amazing planning, scheduling and organizational skills, Matt marshaled multiple crews and trades to execute the master plan with no delays or excuses, until the job was DONE and DONE WELL. That’s priceless. Moreover, Matt conducted himself and his team with upmost expertise, professionalism, courtesy and responsiveness, while showing sensitivity to our family’s needs (we and our 4 young kids lived in the house during construction). Tirelessly, he navigated us through the myriad of decisions and issues inherent in a project of this size and duration. Any problems that surfaced were handled immediately and effectively. Our customer care rep, Jodi, also ensured that we were on-schedule with materials selections and planned and attended our meetings with vendors, offering excellent advice that comes from many years of experience and a track record of many successful projects.
Today, as we enjoy the comfort, luxury and practicality of our new master suite, we could not be happier that we selected Moss for this life-changing project. They have not only made our dreams a reality, they showed us how to improve on those dreams, and they did it all with their genuine customer-focused, family-friendly approach. Without question, Moss will be handling any of our future building/remodeling needs, and we have also enthusiastically recommended them to friends and neighbors.

Wonderful. The design stage was completely transparent. We received careful plans before we had to pay a dime, and the price was very competitive. Work began and finished on time every day, and the craftsmanship was consistently excellent. The project manager, Matt Alspaugh, went above and beyond, personally attending to even minor details. The team religiously kept to its schedule, and we moved in right on time. Overall, I can’t imagine a better experience.
P.S. Moss has remained extremely response even after receiving its final payment.

This is the third time I have worked with Moss. The Moss employees are top notch. Kristen and Bob went out of their way to make me happy during the project. Here are just a few examples below.
Kristen was great helping to narrow down millions of choices out there for me. She sensed my style and researched items for me in advance. For example, she researched lighting so I wouldn’t spend days trying to figure out what I wanted. From the pendant lights, to chandeliers, to sconces, I would taken over a year to figure that out. I took a picture of a unique vessel sink and waterfall faucet that I loved in a restaurant. Not only did Kristen find it, she made sure it was a smaller version that would fit my space. Left on my own, I either would have never found it, or ordered the wrong size.
Bob was always ready answer any question or respond to any request I had. Moving lights, adding shelving, changing knobs, there wasn’t anything that he refused to do. He and Dean are perfectionists. Items I wouldn’t have caught, they took care of. The shelf where the microwave was to go was very plain. Dean decided to match the molding from the cabinets and put it on the shelf giving it a beautiful finished look. When it was done I thought, “Wow, what a difference!” He said he would remove it if I didn’t like it. I told him he was crazy, this is exactly why I hire Moss to do my jobs. Bob was on top of everything, filling all my requests. When the subcontractor didn’t build the trashcan properly, Bob went back to the subcontractor and insisted they make it right. He had them order the correct parts and reconstructed the built-in trashcan correctly.
Moss makes the process easy. Expectations are laid out in advance, however, they are willing to work with you during the project to make changes. They pay attention to detail (note the molding example above). If something comes up during the project where the design will not work (say tiling) I would receive a call and have the opportunity to look at it and make a decision on how to handle it. Other contractors, I hear, will just make the decision themselves and the homeowner will have to live with THEIR decision. This doesn’t happen often, but, when it did, I was involved.

Everyone you work with at Moss is incredibly professional and warm. We felt incredibly comfortable with all of their staff being in our home, even with two small children. They take the time to listen to their customer’s budget and style and work within that to deliver the best products and services available. We will continue to develop our relationship with them and hope in the future to use them for a kitchen remodeling project.

This is our fourth, and largest, project with MOSS and we were extremely pleased, as always. Our project manager, Matt, was very knowledgeable and detail oriented, taking care of us like family. Jodi, our Customer Care Manager, made the process as stress free as possible and the finish selection both easy and enjoyable.
There was excellent communication from MOSS. We knew who was coming when and if there was a delay we were informed promptly. Their workforce was diligent and on-task. All of MOSS’s employees were careful, respectful, and very clean.
During the project, the roofing sub-contractor had some difficulties. Another roofing subcontractor was quickly found that fixed the problem and MOSS got the project moving again. The other issue we had was that the cabinet coloring was uneven. Matt and Jodi worked with the cabinet manufacturer to have the fronts redone until they were perfect with very little hassle for us.
We were exceedingly pleased with MOSS and highly recommend them. We already thinking of our next MOSS project.

They did a very nice job. The work looks very professional and well-done. The tile-work is beautiful, the room works really well for our purposes and they were very professional about showing up on time every day, doing the work and cleaning up after the work. Marty Fletcher was the project manager and he is fantastic. He calls or texts me each day to let me know if/when the workers will be there the next day, keeps me up-to-speed on the progress of the project and really knows his stuff when it comes to building and managing a project. We had a bit of a tight deadline to finish the job, because of a home business that I run. Marty went above-and-beyond in making sure the job was finished on time and done right.- John, K., Oakton, laundry room remodel and powder room addition
Moss Building and Design is fantastic! We used them last year for a major remodel to our new house, and we were very pleased. This year we wanted to make some major changes to our daylight basement. We again went through the process of soliciting bids from four solid remodeling companies to make sure that we had a good sense of cost. Based on our prior experience with Moss, their great employees and management, practical design, and price, we picked Moss again. Like last time, they were not the lowest bidder nor the highest in terms of price. (Note: This is the FIRST remodeling contractor that we have ever chosen to do business with a second time.) One of the owners, Justin, came out to the house and confirmed that we could have the same project manager again. We requested Bob Keene, as well as the same customer care manager, Kristen Corbett. Why? Because they had done such a great job last time and because they have always been pleasant, honest, flexible, and direct with us. So, Bob and Kristen helped us again with numerous design and materials decisions.
They and the entire Moss team helped us stay on track. Moss, as a company, and as individual employees, knows how to keep a project moving forward and completed in the agreed upon timeframe. They were flexible when we decided to add crown molding to the scope of work. We were flexible in that it would take a bit more time. End result: Our daylight basement is stunning! The bathroom now has a great layout and is aging-in-place friendly and gorgeous! Our laundry room now works for us too. Bottom line: Moss does outstanding work by skilled, permanent employees; provides superior service (Bob and Kristen always took my calls or called me back on the same day), and offers a fair price. We would choose them again without hesitation. Check their references, and you will see lots of repeat customers.

It went very well. I had handyman services for a day and he was able to achieve quite a bit on my list including rebuilding a picket fence with new cross bars and pickets, and a new gate/lock/hinge. He even had time to custom cut the picket tops so that they looked just like the old ones. He was very nice, considerate, knowledgeable and skilled. I would really like to have them come back on a regular basis to get things done around the house!

After successfully completing several smaller projects for me, and seeing the quality of work and professionalism of the team, I am now a repeat customer with Moss Building and Design, and hired them to build a full bathroom in my basement.
From my first interactions with Camille Delew, the sales and design consultant who negotiated the details and outlined the design, through my final interaction with Marty Fletcher, the project manager, who conducted the final review, the Moss team set themselves apart through seamless support.
Valerie Irons, a customer care manager, met with me to walk me through the design process, the unique project management tool (love it!), and offered whatever level of support I needed to make material selections. Valerie was my central point of contact through out the project. Whoever I reached out to, they coordinated the answer/solution and kept each other in the loop. I appreciated that.
The build team did a great job. Elwood and Jamey became like extended family, respectful of my home, aware of my pets, and diligent in the build. They did the yeoman’s share of the work and left my home cleaner than when they started! Kevin and Frank were expert craftsman wiring for new light fixtures and electrical circuits, and all the hidden plumbing work that make civilization civilized.
