The days are long, the years are short...

I will never forget the first time I heard that line. I was standing in the grocery store checkout with a preschooler begging for candy, a toddler in the cart and a newborn in the Baby Bjorn. At least three of us were crying when a kind older woman behind me distracted the toddler and preschooler with funny faces and uttered those words to me. I nearly kidnapped her and made her come live with us.

When my kids were little, I thought about that sentiment many times and of just how true it was.  Even now with my munchkins in elementary and middle school, it still applies.  As summer break comes to a close and the bickering is at an all-time high, I keep reminding myself how quickly these years are going and I get a little verklempt.

And then I see my favorite commercial and remember what type of mom I really am:
