Chantilly Kitchen Remodel and Mudroom Remodel

Chantilly Kitchen Remodel and Mudroom Remodel

The kitchen is known as being the heart of the home: it’s where families catch up on the day’s activities, friends and neighbors gather to socialize, and we often find ourselves seizing a quick but peaceful moment to enjoy a cup of coffee. So, it makes sense that the best kitchen design is one that provides style, function, and an invitation to pause and stay a while. Don and Terry wanted to transform their warm but darker, traditional, Tuscan-style kitchen into a lighter and brighter contemporary kitchen that was welcoming and inviting as well. This Chantilly kitchen remodel really was a large transformation in this home.

Today, Don and Terry’s new kitchen remodel boasts a gorgeous, massive island, designed with a drawer microwave for easy access and seating for four. Three stunning light fixtures hung over the island draw the eye and pique interest. Upper cabinet lights peak through glass-front cabinet doors and set the mood for the evening atmosphere. Opposite the island, an extra-wide passageway allows for guests to socialize while helping themselves to a beverage in the mini-frig stationed in a bank of cabinets. The island also features a mini-dishwasher and bar sink to make moving around the kitchen more convenient. To keep the continuity and lines fluid, a passthrough countertop extension into the sunroom was also added.

The choice to install cotton-colored, full-overlay cabinets with Cambria Windemere quartz countertops was a purposeful design decision. The elegant and natural-stone Cambria has many benefits for a kitchen surface; it is twice as strong as granite, is made of 93% pure quartz, so it is nonporous and maintenance free, and resists scratches, stains, and everyday stresses of life. Terry’s love of tile and textures is showcased in the Marazzi Summervile Café Au Lait floor tiles that provide the allure of aged French limestone, emulating a weathered look for enduring appeal and a soft, worn surface coupled with a rustic chiseled edge. The classic elegance is accentuated with a lantern-shaped backsplash tile, SomerTile Arabesque Selene, with a crisp edge and glossy-glaze finish.
