In Our Customer’s Words

After successfully completing several smaller projects for me, and seeing the quality of work and professionalism of the team, I am now a repeat customer with Moss Building and Design, and hired them to build a full bathroom in my basement. From my first interactions with Camille Delew, the sales and design consultant who negotiated the details and outlined the design, through my final interaction with Marty Fletcher, the project manager, who conducted the final review, the Moss team set themselves apart through seamless support. Valerie Irons, a customer care manager, met with me to walk me through the design process, the unique project management tool (love it!), and offered whatever level of support I needed to make material selections. Valerie was my central point of contact through out the project. Whoever I reached out to, they coordinated the answer/solution and kept each other in the loop. I appreciated that. The build team did a great job. Elwood and Jamey became like extended family, respectful of my home, aware of my pets, and diligent in the build. They did the yeoman’s share of the work and left my home cleaner than when they started! Kevin and Frank were expert craftsman wiring for new light fixtures and electrical circuits, and all the hidden plumbing work that make civilization civilized.

The entire experience was a pleasure. I was worried about it being overwhelming, especially the selection process. However, the kitchen designer, Erin Hoopes, assisted with each and every decision (cabinets, flooring, tile, lighting, paint, etc.). She was able to take my very high level vision and make it come alive. The Program Manager (Bob Keene) and team that actually did the construction (Marty and Elwood) were top notch. They were at the house each and every morning first thing - I've never seen people in the remodeling business so punctual and professional. The quality of each facet is outstanding - cabinets, countertop and appliance install hardware and lighting, etc. It was all completed without a hitch. I was nervous about the scheduling, given the nightmares I've heard from friends and relatives about over-promising. However, Moss provided a detailed schedule that I was able to access online that they kept to, even given the bad weather that we had during the winter. They set expectations and were able to deliver on time and within budget. There were a few change orders, but those were due to me wanting further work done - not because of lack of planning on Moss' part. Using Moss' online tool was really easy. I was able to approve the design, selections and change orders at my convenience without the hassle of the exchange of any documents (although they will provide paper copies if needed). I also trusted the Moss crew explicitly to be in my home unattended. We have two dogs and I was worried about them getting out with people coming and going - this was never an issue. The crew was very respectful of my home and everything was cleaned up at the end of every day. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Moss Building and Design. There was never a moment when I wondered what I had gotten myself into. Each night it was exciting to go home and see the progress that had been made that day. The transformation is amazing!

Approximately six years ago we made the very difficult decision to finish our basement. Why was this difficult? For one, it was a very major expense. We also had no idea how to lay out the basement to get maximum benefit of the space. In addition, we had concerns of potential water damage to any investment due to previous linkage in the basement. Finally, neither my wife nor I felt we had any type of home design capability. To address all of these issues we selected Moss as our contractor. During our contractor selection process Moss was able to overcome each of our concerns. While in the construction process they periodically engaged us in modifications to the original design that would not only improve the functionality of our basement but also enhance the aesthetics such as; reallocating support columns to expand the usability of rooms, incorporating archways to tie into the design of the rest of our home, taking what we thought was a structural roadblock in the ceiling of our bar area by making it positive accent and finally, recommending flooring that would enhance the look of our investment. All in all we are extremely pleased with the final product and truly enjoyed the collaborative process. We feel this was money very well spent in terms of additional usage of our home as well as significantly increasing the value.

Moss did a wonderful job completing the unfinished areas of our basement (approximately 850 square feet), including a bedroom, sitting room and walk-in closet for my college age son, and a billiards room. The project manager Marty Fletcher, was terrific. Marty assembled such a wonderful team to do the work that we really didn't see him that frequently, nor did we need to. Ryan Pettit and David Prescott did the framing, carpentry and electrical wiring. In addition to being extremely competent, they were truly nice guys that we enjoyed having in our home. Their attention to the smallest of details and impressive productivity set the stage for a superior project outcome. Moss subcontracted the drywall installation, priming and painting to VL Drywall, who were masterful and used high quality Benjamin Moore paint on the walls. Moss also subcontracted out the tile (12 x 24 inch) installation and it looks awesome. I selected Moss for this job after reading Angie's List reviews of their work, and they did not disappoint. Our neighbor has decided to use Moss to finish their basement based on our recommendation. We wouldn't hesitate to use Moss for any future home projects, big or small.

Moss Building and Design recently finished our basement. Their people did an outstanding job. In particular, I would like to single out two of them. Greg Greksouk sold us on the company. He showed us that we could afford not just the basic project but that we could also afford to upgrade the finishings to make it the basement of our dreams. The final price was what we were hoping to spend. But, we were expecting that it would actually cost much more. Brian, our project manager, did a great job of keeping the project on schedule and making sure that everything was done exactly the way we wanted it to be. He took a lot of the stress away by demonstrating that he was committed to ensuring that we were entirely satisfied with the work. He smoothed away the problems that came up with certain vendors and made it easy to work with some vendors we selected who were not on their recommended list.

From the beginning of the service until the end of the service there was nothing but exceptional service. We had some hiccups along the way and they handled everything with care and plenty of compassion. There was never a time that I couldn't get ahold of the site supervisor or anyone working on my project. This was the first time my husband and I had work done outside of a builder done. Thank goodness we chose Moss they were amazing to work with much easier than the builder. This company really takes care of their customers. Every single person that came into my home was professional and respectful. There is not one negative thing I could say about my experience.

Moss Building and Design is fantastic! We used them last year for a major remodel to our new house, and we were very pleased. This year we wanted to make some major changes to our daylight basement. We again went through the process of soliciting bids from four solid remodeling companies to make sure that we had a good sense of cost. Based on our prior experience with Moss, their great employees and management, practical design, and price, we picked Moss again. Like last time, they were not the lowest bidder nor the highest in terms of price. (Note: This is the FIRST remodeling contractor that we have ever chosen to do business with a second time.) One of the owners, Justin, came out to the house and confirmed that we could have the same project manager again. We requested Bob Keene, as well as the same customer care manager, Kristen Corbett. Why? Because they had done such a great job last time and because they have always been pleasant, honest, flexible, and direct with us. So, Bob and Kristen helped us again with numerous design and materials decisions. They and the entire Moss team helped us stay on track. Moss, as a company, and as individual employees, knows how to keep a project moving forward and completed in the agreed upon timeframe. They were flexible when we decided to add crown molding to the scope of work. We were flexible in that it would take a bit more time. End result: Our daylight basement is stunning! The bathroom now has a great layout and is aging-in-place friendly and gorgeous! Our laundry room now works for us too. Bottom line: Moss does outstanding work by skilled, permanent employees; provides superior service (Bob and Kristen always took my calls or called me back on the same day), and offers a fair price. We would choose them again without hesitation. Check their references, and you will see lots of repeat customers.
